I not long ago got my Bachelors in Industrial as well as Systems Engineering as well as was meditative of you do a Masters in Computer Engineering. we took a basis of Java as well as C++ which I’ve already forgot. First, congratulation for having BSIE degree. I really happy if you could continue your study in Computer Engineering. I have degree on Wireless Telecommunication Engineering, probably I could give some advices. First, Computer Engineering study is different with Computer study. Computer Engineering more to design and production of Computer Hardware, while Computer study or sometime called Informatics, more to Computer Software. Computer Engineer has good prospects since growing needs of Computer Hardware and Accessories, eg. wireless internet (wifi, wimax), PDA, MIDI, etc.. I have to tell you that Electronic Engineering degree is easy to achieve
if you are clever and motivated. I hope you could. Prepare yourself with good “learning techniques”, high motivation. In Computer Engineering study, you will be taught about basic of electronic, electric circuit, electric component, computer architecture, basic of digital, advance digital, microprocessor, mathematic and physics for electronic. Mathematic in digital is not common math, it is using called binary and hexadecimal numbers. You will be taught about Logical Gates (AND, OR), how to assemble logical gates to perform particular digital task, etc.. At the end of study, you have to be able to design at least small Computer Hardware apparatus for your thesis.

Because university fee is expensive, try to study as quick as you could wity highest marks. The ways: study all lecture topics before you get in, even if you could, finish your thesis before you get in.
Your ability to program in Java and C++ are good asset, since means
you know how to develop algorithm. Later when you program microprocessor (ADD, SUBSTRACT, LOAD, SAVE), logic is same with software algorithm, only language different. Microprocessor programming uses assembly language and machine language, while most of software programming use high level languages (BASIC, Java).
