My partner spent the money for this *radio* I might give it a thought if it can charge my batteries other wise I’ll stick to playing music from my truck…

This Jobsite Radio is great to have, the sound quality of the radio just out beat the dewalt and bosch radios. i use the 3.0 18v battery and it last me for about two days fully charged. I also tryed out the MP3 Audio Jack! works great with Ipods. i Rate this Radio 10/10!!!! I never buy any other brand but Makita!

Do not buy this radio if you have 3.0AH Li-ion 18V batteries & want to attach an Ipod. The AUX2 port in the sealed battery/Ipod compartment is next to the battery location & you CANNOT connect a patch cord to this port; the battery is directly in the way. I tried three different patch cords, including one w/ a 90 degree head & none fit w/ the battery in place. I tried plugging the patch cord in prior to inserting the battery & that would not work either. I called Makita & their tech rep replicated the problem & suggested I use the AUX1 port located on the face of the unit. Don’t think I want to drill a hole thru the sealed compartment door to connect the cord to the Ipod. Really STUPID design flaw.
BTW, what’s the deal with the lack of tone controls? Forget separate bass & treble, just a single tone control. Also, found this unit to be too “boomy” for my tastes.

Doesn’t seem practical for a job site at all. Plug is not attached, it’s stored within the unit. it’s an AC adapter type, too pain in the butt for me. Sound quality was not great at louder volume. didn’t see it lasting at work.

This is a very compact and sturdy unit. The sound from the radio is more than sufficient for most residential job sites. Only two real drawbacks though. It does not charge the batteries that it can run on, but the Makita Li-ion rapid charger works very well and very quickly. Secondly, it seems like the aux in can be quieter than the radio, but that can be attributed to crappy record levels on my i-pod. Overall, nice sound from a small package, but lacking a feature that is more convenience than anything else.
