The Christian Right has nothing to do with the military. Just because most (not all) christians tend to vote conservative and Republicans happen to be for a strong military that is just one issue. I always find it comical when a Liberal stands against a powerfull military and protest for the need of one. They are oblivious to the fact that they are protesting the one entity that provides them the freedom to do so. If it weren’t for a strong military we would be speaking German now, reading books only allowed by the government, working in jobs that the government TELLS us we have to work in, and believe it or not, all the athiests would be FORCED to worship. The military is our defence against those who want to take away our freedom, how can anyone argue to make it smaller and weaker? Here is the connection… Conservatives believe that a strong military gives us the freedom to follow the american dream of our choosing, worship the God we chose if we chose to, and to put our lives in our own hands to make of it what we want with as little government involvment as possible. Liberalism believes in taking the money that goes to our military puts it into social programs so that more people will be dependant on the government, the same government which is actually putting the people at risk by not having a strong defence. They take the funds from those who chased thier dream, made something out of themselves and give it to the lazy or inept at the same time as putting those who actually care about their own future at risk. There is a reason why its called the right…can you figure it out?
The essence of fascism is a corporate controlled society, an arbitrarily cobbled together system of beliefs, rewards, punishments and scapegoating, an exclusive membership based on “true belief” and a sentimental history that never was and which is aligned with militant superpatriotism . I think this just about covers the Christian Right today. As Mussolini said: ” Whats the problem? It’s just business.”
The days of honest Conservative thought seem to be over. Now we have the republican mafia. Dwight Eisenhower must be turning over in his grave.
